What makes a diamond pink?
In many natural pink diamonds, changes within the crystal structure are associated with their color. The science is complex, and not every pink diamond owes its appearance to the same mechanism.
How to look at pink
Begin with the overall impression: the hue you see, how light or dark it appears, and how strong the color feels. Look at the actual stone in different lighting, rather than choosing from a color name alone.
Questions to bring with you
Is the diamond natural or laboratory-grown? Is the pink color natural or treated? Ask to see the relevant laboratory report and confirm that its details match the stone.
